Helen SzuchHelen Szuch, passed away peacefully on Saturday (9-27-08) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a very brief illness. She was 93. Mrs. Szuch was born June 26, 1915, in Sharon, a daughter of the late James and Katie Kish. She attended Sharon schools and, prior to her marriage, was a governess for Dean and Mrs. Charles Rice’s children at Choate School, Wallingford, Conn. Helen was a lifelong active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Sharon, where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher; and secretary of the Ladies Aid Society and the Goodwill Club. She was branch manager of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America (HRFA), Washington, D.C., for 25 years and worked tirelessly for Bethlen Community Home in Ligonier, Pa. Helen also volunteered for many local non-profit organizations, including American Cancer Society. Her husband, William Szuch, whom she married Aug. 3, 1941, passed away Feb. 10, 2007. She is survived by her son, William James Szuch, at home. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by five sisters, Julia, Ann, Katherine, Rosalia and Mary; and two brothers, Steven and James Kish.
