Elisa Whiteman

Branch 2
(June, 2009)

I have lived with my mother and father in Avon Lake, Ohio, for the past 11 years. I have one brother, 27, and one sister, 24, who both live in San Francisco, California. My sister and I grew up taking Hungarian dance lessons in the Hungarian Reformed Church that my grandfather attends on a regular basis, and we have tried (with unfortunately little success) to learn to speak some Hungarian. Hopefully, our trip to Hungary this summer will help.

I graduated from Avon Lake High School in 2007. I am currently enrolled in Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I will finish my college education with a Bachelors Degree in English Writing in the spring of 2010. I will be finishing an entire year earlier than anticipated due to a post-secondary program with Lorain County Community College I was a part of in high school and to a lot of hard work in college. I work at the International Headquarters of Mission Network in Grand Rapids as a news writer when I’m not doing school work. Major work there includes interviewing major corporation leaders as well as writing articles and radio broadcasts. I hope to continue working at Mission Network News for at least one year after I graduate.

This summer, I will be embarking on a trip to find my roots in Hungary with my family and Hungarian grandfather who speaks Hungarian fluently. Soon after, I will attend a leadership forum for one month with InterVarsity in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

With the bit of spare time that I have left after school, work and travels, I amuse myself by journaling, writing music, playing the piano and singing. I have participated in several musical theatre performances, countless choir excursions, my home church worship team, and a few songwriter-specific events. I hope to continue to use my music for God’s glory as He directs me.
