Jeremiah Skovira
Branch 198
(July, 2008)
It is with great sincerity that I offer my thanks to the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America for this financial aid opportunity. Through my experiences associated with my work, my church and my school, Juanita College, I have learned many lessons.
I am currently an employee at Ligonier Gardens, which is a part of Bethlen Communities. Ligonier Gardens, a personal care home, has given me an opportunity to get in touch with Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and learn many new things about the Hungarian culture. I am a member of the maintenance staff at Ligonier Gardens, and because of this, I am able to interact with many of the residents. I have made a great number of friends through these interactions, and also learned many things.
I also attend St. Boniface Church every Sunday in my hometown. Being able to become more and more religious as I grow is something that I greatly value. I firmly believe that a strong faith can guide somebody to a path of righteousness and happiness. Fortunately, I have been able to do this with regular attendance of a loving church community.
In my third year at Juanita College, I have had the opportunity to do something I never thought possible; play college football. Playing football has taught me many things such as: teamwork, determination, mental toughness and most importantly, time management. Having to balance the heavy work load that Juanita has to offer, football practice, and maintaining a social life, is something that can become extremely difficult. However, I believe that because I realize that later in life I will have to balance my family, my church activities, my job, and my personal wants and needs. Learning this precious skill of time management has allowed me to better prepare myself for the real world.
Once again I would like to thank the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America for this financial aid opportunity.
