Kathleen Morgan
Branch 501
(May, 2007)
As a second-year student majoring in Health and Exercise Science at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), I have found it worthwhile to be involved in a variety of activities. My background of being a lifetime parish member of Saint Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church has especially encouraged me to take part in volunteer efforts. These include volunteering for the past three years at JFK Medical Center in Edison, assisting both nurses and patients; participating in several community clean-ups with TCNJ’ s environmental group Water Watch; and striving to stay involved in TCNJ’s pen pal program, corresponding with under-privileged children in the Trenton area.
Furthermore, my experiences as the Valedictorian of the South Plainfield High School Class of 2005 and a three-year high school varsity cross-country and track captain has provided me with motivation to maintain a strong work ethic and leadership skills. With those achievements, I earned both the GMC and the NJSIAA Scholar Athlete Awards, the Edward J. Bloustein Scholarship, the South Plainfield Education Association Scholarship, and an academic scholarship to TCNJ.
I am highly involved with TCNJ’s Club Softball team, on which I also act as an assistant to our Treasurer. In addition, I am the Stream Walking Coordinator of Water Watch, organizing and conducting on-campus and off-campus water testing. I also practice with TCNJ’s Roadrunner’s Club, play intramural softball and volleyball, and attend events hosted by TCNJ’s Catholic Campus Ministry. Moreover, I have been named to the Dean’s List each semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.959. My participation in all of these events contributes to my well-being and my success throughout my college learning experience.
In closing, I would like to graciously thank the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America for granting me this scholarship, and I would especially like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Michael Paul I for their recommendation. It is truly an honor to receive this scholarship for the further advancement of my education.
