Lauren Elizabeth Vos

Branch 2
(September, 2008)

I am currently a student completing my sophomore year at the University of Evansville. With the intent to graduate in May 2010, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with concentration in pre-professional social work along with a minor in Business Administration. Thus far, I have maintained a place on the Dean’s List at the University of Evansville.
In addition to being a student, I am a part-time employee of the Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library working 20 hours per week. I have been employed at the library since February 2007 and I am planning to continue this work throughout my college career. My work at the library includes book shelving, as well as customer service in which I interact with various members of the community.
Including being a student and employed at the library, I also baby-sit for various families within the area. I began working with one family in the fall of 2006 and since then have become involved in baby-sitting many other families in the community based on recommendations from previous clients.
I have also been involved in volunteering with a non-profit organization The Potter’s Wheel, which works with underprivileged individuals and families. The Potter’s Wheel provides weekly sets of meals for families that have trouble being able to provide food for themselves. The Potter’s Wheel also provides various holiday and weekly programs for families. As my desire is to be involved in some sort of non-profit organization upon graduation, my work at the Potter’s Wheel has helped gain experience with working with the community, as well as practical application of my major.

Lauren was recommended by Branch Manager Ed Szabo.
